Under my skin....

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

What do you do when a lover gets under your skin? When they chip away at the walls of self-protection that you surround yourself with. The ones that are carefully placed there to protect your emotional venerability, your heart as it were.

What do you when they become the first thing that you think of when you wake and the last thing that you think of when drifting off to sleep?

What do you do with the startling realisation that maybe, just maybe, there more than just a sexual longing and need when your thoughts turn to them?

Do you cut your losses and run? or do you stay and see where the path will take you?

What do you do when a lover gets under your skin?

Frankly ~~

I stayed for 14 months..lingering there with him.
He loved me far too much. He was very deep under my skin

I couldn't live with him but it took me SO long to say goodbye.

Now that I have, he feels sure I'll change my mind and let him back into my life.
I won't.
The cost is too high.

Fortunately [or unfortunately, depending on how you see things] it's always been black and white for me.

You're just my hookup.
You're just my bootycall.
You're just my last resort.

Nothing more.

I'd be tempted to cut my losses and run. If "love" starts to enter the picture, then you could have some real problems.

But emotions aren't that easy to control and cutting your losses and running may have the opposite effect . . . and wind up being a case of "absence makes the heart grow fonder."

I really have no idea, in other words. ;-)

You have to end it when the heart follows the rest of your body. Emotions, even more than our libidos, lead us to very bad decisions.

Dangerous situation. Personally, I don't want *anything* to make me want to change my situation - temptation is too risky. My mind tells me to end it at that point, but the heart is a different matter, isn't it?

Being the 'smart' girl that I am, I will be cutting my losses and running.

I thank you all for your lovely comments!
